How to install premade crown molding corners

Using corner blocks likely are more involved than illustrated. First of all how do you make a corner block and then properly fit to the corners of both walls. Thank you for that easy tip. Now what if you have a wall that will join another room and it is short corner and has a slant to meet the other room. Love your show and have watched for years.

Last year we purchased a condo in Orange Beach AL. We want to add crown mold plus install new paneled doors. The Complex is a steel framed building thus I have heard extra steps should be taken to properly install the crown. Was told nailing to sheetrock would eventually fail. Could you please advise how it should be installed?

In addition our current doors are what I call plain slab doors with hinges at top and bottom. What material door would you recommend installing in that environment and should they have 3 hinges? Looking forward to hearing back. Pre-drill holes in the corner blocks for screw mounting. Use 2 inch or longer screws to mount the crown corners in place.

The crown molding you install should hide any screw heads. Measure the distance between the first two corner blocks flat part. Cut a piece of molding flat for this measurement. Place the cut length of molding between the corner blocks. Shoot a nail into the crown at each wall stud. TIP: use a stud finder and mark the wall with a small piece masking tape for each stud just below where your crown will set on the wall To avoid denting the molding, use a nail set to finish driving the nails home.

You may need someone to help hold long pieces while you nail. Continue this process until all the molding is up. Use white spackle, latex caulk, wood putty or a filler stick to cover any noticeable holes.

If needed, apply a bead of caulk where the molding meets the ceiling or walls to close any gaps. Select Products Below.
