The Madness Returns will take place 10 years after the conclusion of the original game, with Alice struggling to recover from the emotional trauma of losing her entire family in a fatal fire. After spending a decade institutionalized, she is finally released ot the care of a psychiatrist who just may be able help her conquer her nightmares. Now coming up to the eighth installment in the series, now known as Silent Hill: Downpour, the newest installment is being handled by the fairly new company Vatra Games.
Silent Hill: Downpour follows a man named Murphy Pendleton who while being carried off to prison in an escort vehicle escapes after it crashes. Coincidentally, it crashed right by a small lakeside town known as Silent Hill. However, while Vatra is opting for a bigger and more open and explorable experience with side missions and lots of interaction with the environment , they still have not forgotten about the importance of fear, horror, and psychology in the Silent Hill series and the importance of mythos to the series and that each character has their own story and versions of Silent Hill.
One to definitely keep your eyes on as it develops and releases later this year for PS3 and Shadows of the Damned is billed as a new psychological action thriller that will follow a man named Garcia Hotspur like it already who travels into the pits of Hell to save his beloved. Shadows of the Damned will combine visceral action with dark, grotesque horror to create a mind-shattering adventure that has to be seen to be believed.
Garcia will be assisted by a former demon with the ability to transofrm into an array of vicious weapons to help Garcia rip apart the horrifying forces of the underworld.
FEAR 3, F. A horror series that has grown in this console generation, they now are bringing co-op play into this mildly convoluted franchise and aim to make it the scariest game ever.
Big words to live up too. This game could either be very awesome or very meh. Embracing both FPS and horror gaming, what will co-op contribute and how will this compare to the past installments and stand among other horror titles? Originality points are deserved there, at the very least. Combining the popular Mercenaries mode featured in Resident Evil 4 and 5 with new additions like customization as well as new characters, being playable on the go, and one of the first if not the first 3DS title to feature online play.
While more survival-action, it should be a lot of fun and those getting it should have an idea of what to expect. This sounds like a game many could waste many an hour on, alone or with friends. Some of the best horror gaming experiences are ones that most of us never get to play.
The game is being developed by Techmo Koei and will be published by obviously Nintendo for the Nintendo Wii. I did a write up on Dota 2 on this blog recently. What makes Dota 2, umm, special, is that Dota never really was a game. It was just a mod. Will it have the same fast paced competitive spirit as Dota?
Diablo II, although a year-old game, is still being played by masses and has a dedicated fan following. This is the thing about Blizzard. They build games that last. For years and years. They design them in such a way that even newer releases from other game makers seem shadowed by their games. Starcraft and Warcraft prove this point again.
All of these Blizzard games spell Quality. Blizzard always releases sequels 10 years ahead of their previous version. And that shows in their games. Their games have the most stable and balanced engine without any nuances. Plus the support they give to their games. Diablo II, which was released in , received its latest patch on March Now, coming back to Diablo III, obviously, it belongs to a special genre which many developers have dared to explore, and if they have, have failed.
Well done Blizzard! With all these new technologies, Blizzard has still stuck to its roots, and this is why we respect it so much.
All in all, watch out for Diablo III. Its going to be mega! Plus with all the focus on art and music Blizzard puts in into its games. Adds to the element of suspense. Its got a great storyline to back it up, great characters with great personalities and uniqueness, and a great set of unique moves for each character. I swear, Mortal Kombat 4, even when played now, pawns all verses games like the Tekken and Street Fighter series. The last pure Mortal Kombat verses fighting game was Mortal Kombat 4, launched in That goes a long, LONG way back.
With the other versus games, you get bored with the repetitions, but not with MK. The way when a character performs fatality, with the blood spilling on your screen, just sets you on an adrenaline rush. Its been a long, long wait, for the next MK versus fighting game.
I played MK4 for many years, and I have to admit, I only know how to perform fatalities with just 3 characters. Also, the MK games have a 3D battlefields, which takes the fighting experience to an entirely new level. The voice acting is brilliant again, setting the perfect vibe. What a game! Also, I owe a lot to this game.
This is one of those games that really bought me into the gaming world. I can never forget that phase I was in when I was playing MK4.
MK is set to release in April I enjoy playing on the PC more than on the consoles. No PC??? Max Payne 3, it yet to get an official release date, but its rumoured to launch somewhere around fall. Psychological thriller, a genre of its own kind, was mastered by the Max Payne series. Both the Max Payne games have been excellent, story wise and action wise. Also, Max Payne introduced and mastered the concept of Bullet Time in video games, now copied by so many games out there.
The opening cinematic sequence takes place in a gritty, war-torn future depicting a final battle between the world's greatest heroes and villains. Players will create a custom character and enter this fabled world as a hero or villain in one of several cities, including Metropolis or Gotham City.
The game brings high-energy action to the forefront with a combat system designed to deliver a fast-paced action experience, while keeping key elements of MMORPGs like a leveling system, raid instances, endgame progression and inventories.
Engineer Isaac Clarke returns for another blood-curdling adventure in the sequel to the critically acclaimed Dead Space. After waking from a coma on a massive space city known as "The Sprawl", the lone survivor of a horrific alien infestation finds himself confronting a catastrophic new nightmare. Battling dementia, hunted by the government, and haunted by visions of his dead girlfriend, Isaac will do whatever it takes to save himself and dominate the gruesome onslaught.
The game also has an all-new multiplayer mode where players face off in four-on-four matches with several objective-based missions. One side plays as a group of four humans decked out in suits like Isaac's, and the other four combatants take on the roles of Necromorphs.
Besides this new addition it seems Visceral Games' horror follow-up won't stray too far from the original. Considering how beloved the first game was that's definitely a good thing. Dragon Age 2 is set within a ten-year period and features a new protagonist and a new locale within the Dragon Age world. Players will take the role of Hawke, known to be a survivor of the Blight, as he rises from a poor refugee to the Champion of the Free Marches making tough moral choices, gathering the deadliest of allies and sealing their place in history.
Players will also be able to transfer saved data from Dragon Age: Origins into the sequel and experience the consequences of their previous choices — though this is not necessary to fully experience Dragon Age 2. According to the little information available at this point, the Dragon Age 2 story will be a non-linear framed narrative and you will have unprecedented control over the directions your character goes and the sequence in which the story unfolds.
There will be many spells, abilities and specializations to choose from and customize your character, while the original dialogue system will be replaced by the "wheel" system previously seen in the Mass Effect series.
