Uninstall gateway goback

And so we took out the old drive, and inserted and hooked up a clone of my entire hard drive, to replace the glitched hard drive. We have needed to insert the same type of clone at least 3 or 4 times in the past - e. Well, this time was different. When I booted up my computer after inserting the clone drive, I noticed that the GoBack "splash line" did not appear - i.

The message said "GoBack has been deactivated. Do you want to re-activate GoBack? Well, yes, definitely GoBack has saved me more times than I can count - I rely on it. So I clicked YES. I have done a search of the entire hard drive and there is no. So I am thinking that it resides on the original 4. So why am I not just sticking it in to find it? Because I am in Dallas awaiting major spinal surgery in the next couple days, and the disk is at home in Arkansas where all of my software is.

I can't return to Arkansas to retrieve it for at least 3 months, while I undergo this and one additional surgery and then go through rehab. So what do I do now? Is there any way that I can uninstall it without the original disk, which I have no access to?

I have read several blog entries that say that you can't uninstall GoBack even if you have the disk But I don't have it. Is there somewhere that I can obtain this. Or another way that I can uninstall so that I can install the new version that I bought last night? The short answer is no to the MSI question. The MSI file is used to install and is on the installation media.

What appears to have happened is one of a couple things:. That said, you'll need to manually uninstall GoBack at this point. The closest instructions I have are in the following document:. Erik, thanks for the fast response. I followed the instructions on the URL page to the letter, but I still have the problem i. I was careful to substitute Symantec for Roxio when following the registry and Explorer procedures.

Are there perhaps some other instructions that are needed for 4. This is maddening - to have purchased a new GoBack to replace the one that stopped working when I had to install a clone drive, and then not be able to load the new one despite these various removal maneuvers.

Hope you have some more suggestions! The OS won't matter completely. The difference would be some items listed might not show up. Did you restart after performing the actions? I'm going to assume it is.

You can use the Windows Installer Cleanup Utility to remove it from there. Be sure to restart after that. Once completed you should then be able to install the new version of GoBack. Let me know if you have any more difficulties.

Privacy policy. After you install an on-premises data gateway, you manage it based on your requirements. Because each service might integrate gateways differently, the management options differ depending on the service. Although you can manage gateways from any service, the articles in this section refer to the Manage gateways page in Power BI. Manage gateways will not show up until you're the admin of at least one gateway.

You become an admin either by being added as an admin or because you installed and configured a gateway. When you install a gateway, you are by default an admin of that gateway. You then add additional users or security groups as admins by using the Administrators tab for the gateway. You also use this tab to remove admins. Depending on the service you're using you can either remove or delete a gateway.

But, be aware that removing a gateway in Power BI deletes all the data sources under it. In turn, deleting the Power BI data sources causes errors in Power BI dashboards and reports that rely on those data sources.

If you remove or delete a gateway cluster in any of the cloud services, you won't be able to restore it.
